The market for board portals in Switzerland and the DACH region has been in a state of upheaval for years. US investors are increasingly taking over local providers and thus gaining control of the market. One of the most recent takeovers concerns Sherpany AG, which is now fully owned by the US company Datasite LLC from Minneapolis.

This development has increasingly reduced the number of independent providers of board portals: The Swiss company Loomion AG is the only remaining software provider that operates completely independently and is not subject to the US Cloud Act.

Since its foundation in 2013, Loomion AG has established itself as a reliable partner for banks, insurance companies, hospitals, public administration and other highly regulated industries. Particularly noteworthy: around 50 % of Loomion's customers rely on the on-premise solution offered by the board management software, which guarantees maximum security and complete data sovereignty - a decisive advantage in times of increasing cloud takeovers by foreign investors.

Independence and financial stability

Loomion AG is fully self-financed, debt-free and owned by Swiss and German shareholders. External influence by foreign investors or governments is therefore excluded - a decisive factor when it comes to protecting sensitive company data.

Data protection and risks

The acquisition of board portal providers, particularly by American investors, harbors particular risks: Integration into American clouds and platforms means that confidential information from board meetings can be intentionally or unintentionally leaked into less protected systems. This is a decisive risk factor for companies from the umbrella region and Europe that attach great importance to security and regulatory compliance.
